The way women are treated is an important issue, but more so because it is a reflection of the darker side of human nature, the side that is all too willing to take advantage of others. Ignoring this issue ignores all issues that impact men, women and children of all ages.
And so, Romney’s binders full of women comment has taken on a whole new life. What I think is telling is the very strong satirical response that has developed as a consequence of these remarks. This is not a critique of policy, but an assault on the face of ignorance.
Indeed, some of the funniest and most poignant comments I have read in a long time have come from Amazon.com binder reviews. As a politician aiming to be President of the US, you do not want to be on the end of a storm of clever, funny satirical remarks.
This is a much bigger issue than the 47%! This is the heart of the matter and if Obama wants to win it is this issue, Romney’s lack of interest and concern over humanity that needs to be pounded. If the President of the USA is the leader of the “free world”, he or she is also the champion of human rights everywhere!
A picture may be as good as a 1,000 words, but a laugh has no such bounds – Humour is a great leveller and if you laugh, you get it!
